How to Handle Intoxalock Temporary Lockouts
Ignition Interlock Temporary Lockouts Explained
A temporary lockout on an ignition interlock device occurs when the system prevents your vehicle from starting for a short period, usually due to a failed breath test or missed random retest. If you see "TIMEOUT" on your Intoxalock device, it means the device is temporarily locked out, and the timer will count down in minutes.
Depending on your state, a temporary lockout can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 24 hours. Once the timeout period ends, you can provide a breath sample as usual. You do not need to contact Intoxalock for a temporary lockout. However, repeated failed tests may lead to a service lockout, which will require further action. Be sure to follow all prompts and avoid tampering to prevent additional lockouts.
