Financial Assistance for Ignition Interlock Devices in Minnesota
Minnesota offers financial assistance to help cover some of your ignition interlock device costs if you qualify. You must have a probation officer to be considered. Contact your probation officer for information on applying. Once approved for the grant program, the program coordinator will provide Intoxalock Ignition Interlock with a voucher outlining your level of financial aid eligibility.
Financial assistance is available to help cover the costs of your IID installation and monthly service fees in the state of Minnesota. Eligibility is determined by your annual household income as it compares to the federal poverty guidelines.
- If your annual income is less than 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, you may be entitled to pay only half of the regular installation and monthly service fees
Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) Financial Assistance
If you do not reside in one of the counties that offers financial assistance programs, you may still apply for financial assistance through a DVS ignition interlock fund.
To apply for financial aid, you must fill out the Reduced Fee for Ignition Interlock Service and Monitoring form. The application must be notarized. You can return the form by fax, email or mail. You may also call 651-296-2948 to apply over the phone.
Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) will review your application and notify you of your eligibility. You may only apply once per tax year and you must reapply each consecutive year. Your financial assistance is effective on the date your application is approved and is not retroactive to cover costs you already encountered.
